Responsible gambling
Last updated 7 October 2026
Betting should be entertainment, never a source of income or a way out of trouble. This page is for everyone who visits OddSignal, whether or not you have an account.
Our commitment
OddSignal is a platform for betting slips and analysis. We are not a bookmaker. We do not make or set the prices or create bets. We do not accept bets, collect money for placing bets or process wagers of any kind. What we publish is information, and what you do with it is your decision. Because our content is about sports betting, we hold ourselves to the standards of the betting industry: adults only, honest about risk, and clear about where to find help.
Play it safe
A few simple rules keep betting where it belongs:
- Bet only money you can afford to lose, never money meant for rent, food or your family.
- Set your budget before you look at any odds, and stop when you reach it.
- See betting as entertainment that costs money, not as a way to earn an income.
- Never chase losses. A losing day does not owe you a winning one.
- Do not bet when you are upset, stressed or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Take regular breaks. If betting stops being fun, stop betting.
Warning signs
Problem gambling rarely announces itself; it builds up over time. If any of these sound familiar, take them seriously:
- Betting more often, or with more money, than you planned.
- Raising your stakes to win back what you have lost.
- Borrowing money, selling belongings or missing bills to fund your betting.
- Hiding your betting from family or friends.
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down.
- Betting to escape your problems or to lift your mood.
Take action
Practical steps you can take today:
- Set deposit and loss limits on your bookmaker account. Every licensed bookmaker offers them.
- Use your bookmaker's time-out or self-exclusion tools to lock yourself out for as long as you choose.
- Turn off betting notifications and leave tipster channels while you take a break.
- Tell someone you trust. Having someone to answer to makes stopping easier.
- If you have an OddSignal account and want your data removed, contact us and we will delete it.
Get help
Talking to someone helps, and these organisations exist for exactly that. Their support is free and confidential:
- Gambling Therapy (opens in a new tab) Free online support and groups for people worldwide, including Africa, by text and email in several languages.
- Gamblers Anonymous (opens in a new tab) A fellowship of people supporting each other, with meetings around the world and online.
- GamCare (opens in a new tab) Advice, self-help tools and structured support programmes.
Underage gambling
Everyone who creates an OddSignal account is asked to confirm that they are 18 or older, and our Terms require the same. If you are a parent or guardian, device-level controls such as Google Family Link and Apple Screen Time can block betting sites and apps altogether.
